Day 1 in the studio: “in a superior machine…”
We’re setting out to record three face melting tracks of solid awesomeness which should be with you in time for the 24th Feb gig. After fighting our way through the traffic and Hoxton douchebaggery, we arrived at the Rock of London studio Shoreditch. Founder and sound engineer, Steve Honest welcomed us in…To say the least, the studio setup was impressive. One look at the control room and a line from Fear and Loathing sprang to mind - the dashboard was full of esoteric lights & dials & meters that I would never understand, but there was no doubt in my mind I was in a superior machine… This feels like the perfect place to lay down some monster tracks!! On the menu for today drums and bass.
Rock on!!

So five months on from our last gig, we finally hit the stage again properly at the 229 club on Friday - appropriate that the new incarnation of City On Fire started in the same place as the last one finished - and it went better than we could have hoped for. The CROWD - WERE - AWESOME!!! Thanks again to all who came down for helping us remember why we do it. And for those who couldn’t make it this time, well, I’m sorry to tell you you missed out on a a great night (including the after-party at the Lexington, where some stayed until they had to be prised away by the bouncers as the birds started their morning singsong), but there are plenty more where that came from, so do not despair….It was great to see Joel in full flow for the first time and to witness the birth of the Joel Alexander Fan Club (City On Fire branch). Now you all know who he is, at least at the next gig I won’t have to freak him out by repeatedly pointing at him across the room when people ask me “Dude, who’s your new singer?!”. For those of you chomping at the bit to get to the next gig (yes, that’s all of you, of course) we’re aiming to play again in the last weekend of January (27th/28th) - venue and which day not confirmed yet - we’ll hopefully have some updates for you shortly - but mark the weekend in your diaries!!. Before that, however, we’re going to be hitting the studio in early January to get some of our new songs recorded for your listening pleasure, and in the meantime, we hope to have some more pics and vids from last Friday’s gig so keep your eyes peeled on here and on Facebook over the next few days…Rock on.Matt - City On Fire

Hey kids, well it’s been a while since Dan left for sunnier climes, but we’ve not been sitting around on our arses (much) for the last month.

Things are happening behind the scenes that we’ll tell you more about in due course - BUT, in the meantime, the good news is the recordings we made with Dan are now almost baked to perfection and will be coming to an internet near you later this week!

This is a little over due, but it’s time for me to say goodbye. Thank you for all the support over the last year, it’s really been amazing. I hope you continue to support City On Fire as they go on to bigger and better things with a new singer, the world needs music and music needs fans, so keep the faith. If you’re ever in Australia, look me up, I’ll buy you a beer. Take it easy, until next time, Dan :)
